RULE 02: PAST PROGRESSIVE USE

 

 

 

 

 

Ø       We use the past progressive for one long action in the past which is interrupted by a short one. Signalwords are while (past progressive) and when (past simple).

 

past progressive = not complete longer situation

While I was having a bath, the phone rang.

 

 

past simple = complete short action

When Bill came in, I was talking with my mother.
